Many are said to be losing vital hours of rest due to their other half's disturbances.
The survey, which was carried out by Dreams, found that the number one complaint is snoring. This is followed by almost half of respondents saying they are disturbed by their spouse hogging the duvet. A further four in 10 complain of fidgeting, while other issues of annoyance are bad breath or sweating.
Elsewhere, 10% of couples admitted they would rather share a bed with a pet, rather than their other half. One in 10 (18%) of residents in Northern Ireland favour sleeping with their pet over their partner, while 16% of men want a three-in-a-bed sleep – but with their favourite cuddly toy, as opposed to another woman.
When it comes to disgruntled partners, 44% admitted to snoring themselves, with 74% claim they lose seven hours of sleep a week because their other half's sleeping habits are so bad.
However, it's not just bad habits dividing Britain's couples at nights.
One in 10 said they argue over their mothers-in-law, friends or family gossip, with others saying where they should go on holiday is another disagreement.
It wasn't all bad news though, with 59% of those polled saying they indulged in pillow talk with their spouse. Making important life decisions is also a popular bedtime activity, with one in 10 discussing whether to start a family and 16% discussing marriage and future wedding plans.
Psychologist Emma Kenny said: "When it comes to bed behaviour behind closed doors, it would seem we as a nation have many aggravating habits.
"It's interesting to see that despite these bedtime irritants, the bed is still considered an important place for couples to bond and make life changing decisions together."
