According to The Sun, a source is quoted as saying the actress bought the watch as a gift for her partner James Righton.
She gave him the present as they partied with friends in a London pub at the weekend.
The source said: "Keira wanted to buy something special. James is not materialistic but a Rolex is not something to be sniffed at. He loves it and was really touched."
The lavish gift contracts with the modest wedding ceremony the couple had earlier this year.
In May, the pair tied the knot in a small ceremony in the south of France, with just 11 guests in attendance and 50 invited to the reception.
Rather than purchasing a new wedding gown, 28-year-old Knightley selected a designer dress she had worn previously to marry her partner. After the wedding, the couple spent their honeymoon on the nearby island of Corsica.
At the time of the wedding, Righton, who is a member of the Klaxons, was said to have paid £3,000 for a 100-year-old olive tree, which he gave to the actress as a wedding gift.
