Simon Cowell 'Chooses Baby Name'

Simon Cowell has reportedly chosen a name for his unborn baby.

According to the Daily Star, a source is quoted as saying the reason behind the choice is a tribute to the 53-year-olds father.

It is claimed Cowell is wanting to name his child Eric after his father, who passed away from a heart attack in 1999.

The source said: "If it's a boy, Simon wants to call him Eric and if it's a girl Erica.

"His dad meant the world to him and Simon feels the name would be a fitting tribute.

"Lauren has not decided yet, but is taking Simon's input very seriously.

"She likes the name Eric as it is unusual in America and quite stylish.

"She also feels Erica is a cool name for a girl."

Eric, who was 81 when he died, worked for music label EMI and helped his son to land his first job in the firm. Previously, the music mogul has described his father as a "brilliant mentor".

Cowell's mother has also previously said her son "still misses him terribly".

Cowell and his pregnant girlfriend, socialite Lauren Silverman, are currently on holiday in St Tropez, France.

A source claimed: "This is something Simon didn't ever expect to happen ... Now it has, he wants to grab the opportunity with both hands and be a proper dad.

"He wants to be a good dad, just like he regards his own father ... He wants to emulate what his parents did for him."
