Zayn Malik Discusses Engagement

Zayn Malik has spoken about his engagement for the first time to Capital FM.

The One Direction star and his girlfriend, Little Mix signer Perrie Edwards, got engaged on Sunday (18 August), but the news was only confirmed yesterday.

Rumours that the couple were engaged started earlier this week when 20-year-old Edwards was spotted wearing a diamond ring at the London premiere of One Direction's 'This Is Us' movie.

The singer's mum and brother then went on to confirm the news.

Speaking to Real Radio, Edwards' mother, Deborah, said: "Yes, it's true. They got engaged on Sunday and it's absolutely lovely.

"It's wonderful because Zayn is absolutely gorgeous and Perrie loves him to pieces. It's just perfect and they get on so well together.

"It's just fabulous."

Now, 20-year-old Malik has confirmed the news himself, saying: "It's cool, yeah.

"We're really happy, yeah. It's cool."

He remained quiet on any further details of the proposal however.

Elsewhere, his fellow bandmates found it amusing that it was his fiancée's mother who confirmed the news first.

The couple have been together for more than a year, but their relationship hit a troubled patch earlier this year when Malik was alleged to have cheated on Edwards. In April, they celebrated their first anniversary with a trip to the Eiffel Tower, in Paris, France.
