The singer added that the recent tattoo he decided to get – which is an image of his girlfriend – was "a little bit crazy".
The 20-year-old got the tattoo in June, and Edwards, who is a singer with girlband Little Mix, has since described the inking as "weird... but nice."
Malik was asked if he regretted the tattoo, but he replied: "Of course not."
He added: "It's not a direct portrait but it's all the things I like about her.
"I didn't tell her before I had it done and just surprised her with it when I came back from the States one day.
"She was shocked at first but loves it now. She thinks I'm crazy, like everyone else does. To be fair, I am a little bit crazy... I'm happy to be labelled the crazy one of the group."
The couple have been together for just over a year, but their relationship hit a troubled patch earlier this year when Malik was alleged to have cheated on Edwards.
Edwards, also 20, has previously supported her boyfriend through the cheating rumours saying: "Zayn is so lovely. You know things are good when you can't wait to see the other person. It's a sense of friendship. The main thing I looked for is if he's fun to be around, if I can have a laugh with him. When it's more of a friendship, it can blossom."
The couple celebrated their first anniversary in April with a trip to the Eiffel Tower, in Paris, France.
