The study, which was conducted by Wren Kitchens & Bedrooms, discovered a quarter of women said they were infuriated when men turn into 'back seat drivers' and continually intervene with the dinner preparations.
A further third of females said men who try to help, but just end up leaving a mess, annoys them, while 27% admitted that those who leave their other halves to do the washing up were the most annoying.
Elsewhere in the poll, one in six women complained that their husband or partner 'muscles in' by sneakily adding ingredients or stirring the pan when they aren't looking.
One in five claimed they get frustrated if their partner hovers by their side as they try to prepare a meal, wishing they would just back off instead.
However, not all is lost for men as one in four women did admit that cookery skills is one of the things they found most attractive in their partner.
Managing Director of Wren Kitchens & Bedrooms, Armando Sanchez, said: "Years ago, kitchens were completely dominated by women but these days we find men are as interested in cooking as women.
"Not all men are a nuisance in the kitchen and one in four women say that their cookery skills are actually one of things they find most attractive in their partner."
