A manager for the actor confirmed the news to Now magazine.
This will be the third child for 36-year-old Dyer and his long-term partner Joanne Mas.
The couple have been together since they were teenagers and are parents to two daughters, 17-year-old Danni and six-year-old Sunnie.
A source is quoted by The Sun newspaper as saying: "They've already got two daughters so a third girl would round things off nicely.
"Obviously Danny wouldn't mind having a son too."
In 2010, when Dyer was writing as an 'agony uncle' for Zoo magazine, he got into trouble after he allegedly advised a reader to cut his ex-girlfriend's face. He has since hit back at the claims, saying he is not a "misogynist" and that he "adores women".
He explained to The Independent magazine: "It just makes me feel sick that people would believe that I'm this misogynist who would advise somebody to cut a woman's face.
"Especially with two daughters and having being brought up by women. I adore women... I love everything about them."
