Last week, a US publication revealed the 53-year-old music mogul is to become a father for the first time with the New York socialite.
The couple's relationship has been surrounded in controversy ever since it hit the headlines, as Ms Silverman is the estranged wife of Cowell's close friend Andrew Silverman.
In addition, despite reportedly being advised to "stay away" from 36-year-old Ms Silverman until her divorce with her husband is finalised, Cowell is reportedly wanting to give their relationship a chance.
It has been alleged that the couple started their affair as early as 2009, with a source close to Lauren quoted as saying: "Lauren has loved Simon forever. And they started having an affair four years ago."
They added that the pair were only 'hooking up' now and again, but they are now more serious as they prepare to become parents.
"Simon and Lauren are together. They talk 100 times a day," they explained.
Friends and family of the socialite have insisted that the Silverman's marriage was already starting to breakdown when she met Cowell in Barbados.
Last month, Mr Silverman filed for divorce, naming his long-time friend as a co-respondent in papers. He also cited adultery as the reason for the failure of his marriage.
The Silvermans have one child together, a seven-year-old son, Adam.
