The 23-year-old actress, famous for her role in The Inbetweeners, made the revelation in an interview with Reveal.
She said she wanted to "clear up" the rumours surrounding their alleged relationship.
There has been speculation since May 2012 regarding the pair.
However, in her interview, she confirmed that she did date the 19-year-old pop star, describing their "little fling" as "brief, but fun".
She added: "We were never boyfriend and girlfriend. I think that's the first time I've ever admitted to what it was, because I've always just shrugged it off before.
"But I think it's best to clear it up. So, yeah, we had a short-lived thing that was just a bit of fun. Then we went off in our opposite directions.
"Harry and I had a laugh. It was brief, but fun, and then we moved on. We haven't spoken in a while – he's one of the most famous people in the world now."
The actress also joked about references to being a 'cougar' for dating 19-year-old model Jack Vacher shortly after her relationship with Styles, who was 18 at the time.
She said: "Oh God, I suppose it does [make me a cougar]. That's terrible isn't it?"
Speaking about Vacher, she also revealed: "We share a lot of common ground, so it works... we're taking things slowly and we're just enjoying our time together."
