According to the Daily Star, the 17-year-age gap between the couple is believed to have been a major factor in the split.
The pair had been dating for a year after they met in the green room at ITV's This Morning, where Brown works as a runner.
They were recently seen together in Portugal as they attended the wedding of Denise Welch, Gulati's Loose Women co-star.
Sources close to the 46-year-old actress claim the age difference as well as lifestyles have caused a number of arguments.
Brown, 29, is said to be a wannabe rapper who performs under the name Mr Brown, while Gulati has an 18-year-old son with her former husband.
A close friend of Gulati is quoted by the paper as saying: "Sadly Shobna and Tony have called it a day. She is very upset as a few months ago she genuinely thought he was the one.
"They had been virtually inseparable while Shobna was working in London on Loose Women. She took him to Denise's wedding in the Algarve and introduced him to her closest friends.
"But a few minor niggles turned into rows and things escalated. She realised they both have and want different lifestyles.
It turns out the age difference does matter. There is no-one else involved on either side."
