Alex Reid is said to have sold his wedding ring to Now magazine as a competition prize.
The ring in question is the one the cage fighter was given by Katie Price at their Las Vegas wedding in February 2010.
It is understood the 38-year-old did not plan to sell the item of jewellery until he discovered his ex-wife was planning to talk about him in her upcoming autobiography. He reportedly planned to sell the ring in a pawn shop in Hertfordshire, when Now made their own offer.
Speaking to the publication, Reid said: "Katie and I picked the ring in Vegas before we got married there. It's beautiful and classy. Selling it is emotional because I really loved her.
"But when Katie said all that stuff about me, I decided it was time to get rid of it. Do I want a token of love from her now? No.
"This feels cathartic. I'm turning what happened into something positive."
The ring is said to have been valued at £2,255 and features 42 round brilliant cut diamonds, and readers have to answer a question to be in with a chance of winning the ring.
