According to the Daily Mail, mum-of-two Laura Curry was on the crowded Poldhu Cove beach when she removed the rings to apply sun cream to her children.
She placed the items into the inside pocket of a beach tent for safekeeping, but forgot all about them.
Laura, who tied the knot with Royal Navy sailor Paul five years ago, said the rings – which were worth £3,000 – must have been thrown across the beach when the shook the sand out of the tent.
She explained: "Unfortunately I then became distracted by my daughter – and ice creams – and completely forgot to put my rings back on.
"I didn't realise I wasn't wearing them until about four hours later back at the caravan park where some friends were staying."
She looked through her belongings but could not find the rings. Driving back to the beach, Laura searched for the jewellery for 40 minutes but was unsuccessful.
"I had to tearfully return home to Millbrook and explain to my husband that I'd lost them.
"He was understandably irritated with me," she added.
The rings were even more special to the mother as she helped to design her engagement ring, while a friend made the wedding band.
Determined, however, she then turned to Facebook and pleaded for a metal detector she could borrow to return and search for her missing rings.
A woman from Torpoint left one, with a hire company delivering a second detector.
That Friday, the couple went to the beach.
"I had a vague idea of where we were sitting, but when we arrived I thought, 'Oh God, it's so much bigger than I remembered.'
"There were kids with buckets and spades throwing sand everywhere.
"We found tent peg after tent peg.
"Then, suddenly, I looked to my left and saw my wedding ring sticking out of the sand.
"I squealed and cried at the same time."
She added that two other families helped them look for her engagement ring, which was found an hour later, just a couple of metres away.
Laura added: "Paul was annoyed to start with, but he was very understanding.
"It's incredible really that they were there two days later.
"Anybody could have picked them up from the sand or the tide and waves could have swept them away or even totally buried them. It's a fantastic result."
