According to the BBC, the operation was carried out by immigration officers in Gretna.
The accused were apprehended shortly before six ceremonies were due to be held tomorrow (Thursday).
The men, who are said to be in the UK illegally, are aged between 27 and 40.
It is understood they had travelled to Gretna from various areas in England including Bradford, Manchester, Southall, Blackburn and Wolverhampton.
Of those arrested, five are said to be would-be grooms, while three are guests who were to appear at the ceremonies. The brides-to-be were from the Czech Republic, Romania and the UK.
They have since been interviewed and released.
Anna Beattie, from the Home Office immigration enforcement team, said the latest operation was a warning for anyone in the UK illegally.
She added: "Expect to be caught by us and removed from the UK.
"The Home Office is working with colleagues at registration offices throughout Scotland and receives intelligence from a wide variety of sources.
"We will not hesitate to act against those who mistakenly believe that they can abuse the immigration system."
It has been reported that six of the men have been detained pending their removal from the UK, while the remaining two must report regularly to the Home Office while their pending immigration cases are concluded.
