The former footballer, who played for Bolton Wanderers introduced his new son – Matthew Josiah – to Hello magazine today (22 July).
Muamba, 25, was forced to retire from football last year after suffering a cardiac arrest during an FA Cup quarter final match against Tottenham Hotspur.
Describing the moment his son was born, he admitted: "I looked at him, this precious new life we'd created after I'd come so close to losing mine, and in that moment it just hit me that he wouldn't have been here.
"In that moment, it all came back and I just went – I lost it completely."
Muamba met his wife while he was playing for Birmingham City and she was studying at Birmingham City University. They became engaged in February 2012 and married later that year, in October, at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire. The couple are already parents to four-year-old Josh.
