Tina Turner Marries Long-Term Partner

Tina Turner has married her long-term partner Erwin Bach in Switzerland.

Reports first emerged last week that the couple were planning to marry, but municipal official Hanness Friess confirmed to AFP that the pair married in a private ceremony "a few days ago".

It is understood that they married on the banks of Lake Zurich, while Turner, 73, will celebrate their union in a Buddhist ceremony at their estate in Kusnacht this Sunday (21 July).

The couple first met in 1985 at a record label party in London. Bach, who is a German music executive, and 73-year-old Turner began dating almost a year later and have been together ever since. In 1994, the singer moved to Zurich, and in January 2013 it was revealed that Turner had applied for Swizz citizenship, therefore renouncing her US citizenship. She was officially declared a citizen of Switzerland in April, and around this time it was reported that the couple got engaged.

Turner was previously involved in a long-term relationship with former musical partner Ike Turner.
