Monteith, 31, who rose to fame as part of the television show 'Glee', was found dead in his hotel room in Vancouver on Saturday.
Before his death, it was reported that he had been making plans to move into his girlfriend – and fellow co-star's – Los Angeles home.
The couple have been dating for more than a year, but despite previous reports, they had not made plans to tie the knot.
A source is quoted by Us Weekly as saying: "Lea and Cory were planning on moving in together after he got back from Vancouver.
"[Lea and Cory] weren't talking engagement or marriage yet but it was heading that way.
"The first step was Cory was going to move in [to Michele's L.A. Home] completely. He was already there all the time.
"They were 100 percent happy and together and in love at the time of his death. They never broke up."
Ms Michele is said to be "devastated beyond belief" following the shocking death of her partner.
Monteith, who played Finn Hudson in the hit show, voluntarily checked into rehab in March for a month to battle drug addiction.
An autopsy was carried out on the actor's body yesterday (15 July) to determine how he died. The results could take a couple of weeks, but police have ruled out foul play.
