Lewis Hamilton and Nicole Scherzinger have split after five years together.
A spokesperson for 34-year-old Scherzinger confirmed the news to the Mail Online.
The announcement will come as a surprise for many, as just last week there were reports that Hamilton, 28, was preparing to propose to his girlfriend.
It is believed the couple decided to end their relationship due to their busy work schedules.
When asked about an engagement, Hamilton recently said: "We've been together for five years, which is quite a milestone really. But hopefully in the near future. Maybe before we get to six years."
The couple were spotted together at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal last month, but since returning to The X Factor for a second series, Scherzinger has been at auditions across the UK, as Hamilton focuses on his racing career.
The pair first met at the European Music Awards in November 2007, before going public with their relationship at the Monaco Grand Prix six months later. They briefly split in January 2010 after 20 months together, but later reconciled. In July 2011, there was unconfirmed speculation the couple had become engaged, but they split again in late 2011.
Earlier this year, it was revealed they had decided to give their relationship another chance.
