The 25-year-old, who plays David Platt in the soap, made the revelation in an interview with New magazine.
Shepherd, who is engaged to his long-term partner Lauren Shippey, is already a father to four-year-old Nyla. Last month, it was also revealed the couple were expecting their second child together.
At the time, the actor took to Twitter to confirm the new, writing: "Me and @LaurenShippey are pleased to announce we are expecting a baby, we are both very happy. X".
Speaking to the New magazine recently, Shepherd admitted: "The baby is due at the end of the year and we are both delighted. I want four children. Nyla is dead easy.
"I try and get her to watch Corrie, but she's not interested."
The young father also revealed he was in no rush to tie the knot with Shippey.
"We're engaged, but we've just started up a drama school in Manchester and we are putting all of our time and effort into that.
"Lauren wants a typical big do – the church and nice dress. We haven't had time to plan anything yet. When we're ready, we will. We might even wait until we've finished our family."
In 2010, the couple hit problems in their relationship, when Shepherd was alleged to have fathered a baby son during a one-night stand with another woman.
Following the allegations, it was reported that Shippey had forgiven her partner, with a source at the time telling the Sunday Mirror: "Lauren looked really comfortable with Jack again - they looked like a happy family out in the sunshine."
