The actor let the detail slip during a press call in Paris earlier this week.
Martinez, who will become a father for the first time, was talking about the difference between American and French culture, and People magazine quotes him as saying: "I remain a Frenchman in America, but I adapt to American culture. I feel good there – but I'm still a foreigner. [However], my son will be an American."
The actor and 46-year-old Berry announced they were expecting their first child together in April.
Berry already has a five-year-old daughter, Nahla, with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.
Last November, Aubry and Martinez were involved in an altercation that left both parties needing medical attention. The incident was reported to be over a disagreement over custody of Nahla.
Berry and Martinez began dating in October 2010, and got engaged in March 2012.
