There are reports that the mother of Miley Cyrus, Tish, has filed for divorce from her husband Billy Ray Cyrus.
According to website TMZ, she cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason.
Billy Ray initially filed for divorce in October 2010, also citing irreconcilable differences, but during an interview in March 2011, the singer confirmed he had dropped the divorce and the couple were together, but trying to work through their problems.
As part of the divorce settlement, Tish is believed to have requested full custody of their 13-year-old son Noah, offering Billy visitation rights.
Noah is the couple's only child under the age of 18. It is understood she has also asked for spousal support and for her estranged husband to pay her legal costs.
There is speculation that the family, Miley included, were unaware of the separation, as the 20-year-old singer took to her Twitter account to reach out to her father.
"@billyraycyrus since your texts and email obviously aren't working would you like to talk like this. (sic)", she wrote.
A few years ago Billy Ray admitted his relationship with his daughter was "strained", confessing fame had "destroyed" his family.
However, speaking to People magazine at the time, he added: "It is very important to me to work on mending my family right now.
"[My comments were] explosive, and unintentionally so. My family is the most important thing I have, and we are working together to make sure our future is stronger and healthier.
"It is all a learning process. And we thank everyone for their support and respect of our privacy as we sort through very important family issues."
