'Music Is Better Than Love' – Survey

Britons have revealed that music is more likely to make them feel good than making love.

According to the Daily Mail, the study also found that most 'upbeat' track, is Abba's Dancing Queen.

Around 2,000 men and women were questioned for the survey, with 40% saying that listening to their favourite songs improved their mood, as opposed to just 20% who claimed making love made them feel better.

Listening to music topped the list, with eating foods such as chocolate the second most popular way of making ourselves feel happy, leaving romance to finish in third place.

When it came to breaking down the gender divide, women were more likely than men to choose songs over sex.

Those surveyed, for Upbeat, a high-protein fruit drink, rated Dancing Queen by Abba as the song most likely to put them in a good mood. This was followed by Billy Joel’s Uptown Girl, Gloria Gaynor’s disco anthem I Will Survive, The Beatles’ Hey Jude and the theme from Fame, sung by Irene Cara, rounding off the top five.

The other songs in the top ten are Ride on Time by Black Box, Rhianna’s Only Girl (In the World), I Feel Love by Donna Summer, Somebody that I Used to Know by Gotye, and Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy.

Tomas Chamorro, a Professor of Psychology at University College London, said: "Men and women approach sex in different ways: for men it is more of a pleasure-seeking thing and for women it has a higher level of emotional involvement.

"Most people are not happy with their relationship status – whether they are in a relationship or not.

"Music is a more selfish activity because it is just about you and you can immerse yourself it. It is very self-indulgent."
