55% Of Women Prefer Shopping To Sex

A new study has found more than half of women in the UK find shopping more pleasurable than a night of passion with their partner.

According to TLC’s new TV series Ultimate Shopper, which commissioned the study, 55% of women said that a good day at the shops is more thrilling than time spent making love with their other half.

The findings also revealed that while 10% of the items purchased by women will never be worn, 11% of those polled didn't appear to mind as they admitted shopping is always better than love-making, regardless of the circumstances.

A total of 2,000 British women, all of whom were in relationships, were surveyed and found that the average woman thinks about shopping six times a week. This compares to just four times a week they spend on 'sexy' thoughts.

Women from Northern Ireland are most likely to admit that good shopping is always better than good sex, with 22% making the confession. This compares to 15% of women in Yorkshire & the Humber and 14% of women from the East Midlands.

On the other hand, shopping was also discovered to be a source of disagreement for couples, with 37% claiming joint shopping trips end in a heated argument. As a result, many participants said they preferred to shop alone or with friends, with only 16% saying they wanted to spend more time shopping with their partners.

53% of women in Northern Ireland said they preferred to shop alone, while 12% of Londoners said they would not shop with their husband or boyfriend. Of those who do shop with their partner, those in the West Midlands were found to argue the most, with more than four in 10 trips ending in a row. Couples in NI were the least confrontational, with less than a third of outings ending in an argument.

In a further blow to husbands and boyfriends, 23% of mothers said their children were a better choice of shopping partner as they provided less trouble than their partners.
