The study, which was carried out by sunshine.co.uk, also revealed that the Balearic Islands was the most popular destination to start a long-term romance. However, it found that couples that got together on holiday, will be together for an average of one year and three months.
On top of that, a fifth of respondents admitted to having cheated on a partner while on holiday, with factors such as a 'carefree holiday attitude' and excessive amounts of alcohol potential factors.
Chris Clarkson, co-founder of sunshine.co.uk, said: "Everyone is at their best on holiday; relaxed, happy and carefree. It's therefore no wonder that a fair few relationships begin on holiday.
"The Balearics coming out as the top destination for holiday relationships was no surprise, as resorts like Ibiza and Majorca play host to thousands of young holidaymakers every year and plenty are clearly looking for love!"
When looking for love, the survey found the most popular place was to be through a friend. This was followed by being out socially. A fifth of those polled met their partner at work, while 15% met their partner online.
