Robert Pattinson is said to have split from Kristen Stewart after he found text messages from Rupert Sanders on her phone.
According to the Daily Express, the actor made the discovery shortly before he was due to celebrate his 27th birthday. Instead, however, Pattinson moved out of the home he was sharing with his girlfriend and Twilight co-star, before ending their relationship.
It has been reported that Stewart was in the shower when Pattinson found the messages from the 42-year-old British director.
A source told the paper: "Rob was looking at her phone on the morning of his birthday as he wanted to take a picture of something when she was in the shower.
"Suddenly this message flashes up and it’s not what he wanted to see. He got straight up and left.
"Despite Kristen’s pleas, he told her not to come to his birthday party at a friend’s that night. He’s extremely angry and upset. No matter how many times she calls or texts, friends say he’s had enough. After everything that happened and the hurt she caused, he’s furious she’d be back in touch with him, even if she is saying it’s completely innocent."
Last year, Stewart and Sanders were caught kissing in Los Angeles. Shortly after the rumours began, the 23-year-old actress admitted to having an affair and apologised for her actions.
Sanders own marriage has broken down since the scandal, with his wife Liberty Ross filing for divorce.
