According to US Weekly, the Hollywood actress made the decision to avoid any "perceived overlap" of the two ceremonies.
Aniston's ex, Brad Pitt, is rumoured to be marrying fiancée Angelina Jolie later this month.
In response, the 44-year-old pushed her wedding date back.
The source claimed: "She does not want her day associated with them. She has been cranky from this stress. Justin's never seen her like this."
The former Friends actress was said to have initially thought of moving her big day forward, but the source added: "Justin got weirded out by all the rushing."
As a result, the wedding and all the associated planning, has been put on hold.
"Nothing has happened on that front in a month," the insider revealed.
Aniston was married to Pitt from 2000 to 2005, when she filed for divorce. At the time, it was alleged Pitt had cheated on his wife with his Mr & Mrs Smith co-star, Jolie.
The actress got engaged to Theroux last August after more than a year of dating.
