'Cougars' Increasing In Popularity - Survey

New research has found that being a 'cougar' is no longer viewed as it once was.

According to Cupid Plc, who conducted the research from BeNaughty.com found that while it used to be 'taboo' for a woman to date a younger man – despite men dating younger women – opinions have now changed, with many men wanting to find a cougar for themselves.

The survey found 84% of women feel it is acceptable for women to date younger men, while almost six in 10 admitted to finding younger men attractive.

This was found especially in women over the age of 50.

When it came to asking the men, more than eight in 10 said they found older women to be attractive and would have no problems dating one, while more than two-thirds revealed they would be just as happy to fantasise about dating an older woman.

When it gets down to the nitty-gritty, 65% of women said they would love to have a fling with a younger man, and just over half of women said they would quite happily marry someone younger than them.

However, one of the largest surprises revealed by the survey found that men seem to find a bigger age gap more attractive. Almost half said they would date a woman over ten years older than themselves and a third said they would date someone over five years older than themselves.
