According to The Hollywood Reporter, the couple – who have been together for seven years – got engaged in January.
It is now believed the 68-year-old Star Wars creator and his fiancée, 43-year-old Mellody Hobson, will tie the knot on 29 June in Chicago.
Ms Hobson is President of Chicago-based Ariel Investments and a chair of DreamWorks Animation.
She met Lucas on a business conference in 2006 and the couple began dating long-distance while he lived full-time in California.
Last year, Hobson spoke about the couple's relationship to Oprah Winfrey.
In the interview, she said: "I think it works because we are extraordinarily open-minded people and we're open to what the universe brings us and I think we didn't have preconceived ideas about what a partnership should be and so we allowed ourselves to discover something that was unexpected."
A spokesperson for Lucasfilm declined to confirm wedding details.
The marriage will be the first for Hobson and the second for Lucas.
The director was previously married to film editor Marcia Griffin for 14 years before their split in 1983. The pair share an adopted daughter, Amanda. He also has two other adult children, a son and a daughter, whom he adopted on his own.
