The Saturdays singer confirmed her engagement to the footballer last week after uploading a photo of the two of them together while she wore an engagement ring.
In an interview with Capital FM, the 24-year-old revealed her new fiancé arranged for her dogs to be included in the surprise.
She admitted: "He took me to a hotel and he got my dogs involved. I didn't know my dogs were there and they came in in little bride and groom outfits. And Pixie had the ring around her neck on a ribbon."
However, Sandford also said she had been worrying earlier in the evening when her boyfriend had been quiet over their dinner.
She added: "He'd been acting so weird that when he left to come back in and do the whole proposal thing in my head I was thinking, 'Oh no we've become one of those couples that can't make conversation at dinner'. I was panicking."
Sandford has been dating Brighton & Hove Albion footballer, Wayne Bridge, for more than two years. She previously dated McFly star Dougie Poynter from 2008 to 2010.
