Klass split from her husband Graham Quinn last year after six months of marriage.
In an interview with The Sun's Fabulous magazine, the singer revealed how she was left "devastated" after her partner walked out of their family home on her birthday.
She said: "It’s like a bereavement... it’s a loss. I’ve had to look at it as positively as I can. People say these things make you stronger but... it's not that I'm stronger. It's more that I didn't realise how strong I already was."
The 35-year-old added that she needed to recover quickly from her shock at the breakdown of her marriage.
"Sitting there wallowing and feeling sorry for yourself doesn't help anyone," she admitted. "I've learned to be like water – keep on finding the cracks that lead to the river. Just keep on moving."
The star also revealed her children were helping her to get over the split.
She explained: "You can't lie in bed when your daughter is hitting you on the head with a recorder! I've got to lead from the front and so I just crack on."
Klass and Quinn married in October 2011, with only 16 wedding guests in attendance. On 6 April, Quinn walked out of the marital home. The couple have two children together, daughters Ava Bailey and Hero Harper.
