According to This Is Somerset, an announcement was made to the couples – via email – saying the events company based at the venue was no longer there.
The company, Bozeat Palmer Contracts, sent an email to all of its clients at the end of last week, informing them that their weddings had been cancelled with immediate effect.
Emily Tanner and Luke Walker are one couple now looking for a new reception venue. They are due to marry in two weeks' time. They had paid almost £7,000 to hold their event at Chewton Place, and Ms Tanner said she had spent most of the weekend in tears as she tried to make new arrangements.
She added: "I just felt sick when I found out. I have not stopped crying all weekend.
"I was supposed to be enjoying these last two weeks, but now I just don't trust anyone. I feel like I am going to get let down again."
The couple have since received all their money back from Chewton Place and managed to re-book their reception at an alternative venue for the same date.
For another couple, this latest announcement is the second blow they have been dealt. Candy Hollyman and Stephen Trott have had their wedding cancelled for the second time as they were hit by the initial closure of the venue more than a year ago.
Chewton Place briefly closed in December 2011 before it opened under new management a few months later.
The pair, who have two young children and have been together for ten years, have said they are no longer sure if they can go through the stress of reorganising their wedding for a third time.
