UK Couple Exchange Vows For 40th Time

A couple from Hull are exchanging marriage vows in different locations around the world – so they can pick their favourite and then return for their official wedding.

Lisa Grant and Alex Pelling, are trying wedding experiences from across the globe with their 40th wedding celebration set to take place in Wales this week, the BBC has reported.

The couple will hold their latest celebration at Aberglasney Gardens, Carmarthenshire, where they have chosen a druid ceremony for their 'nuptials'.

Speaking to BBC Radio Wales, Ms Grant said they came up with the idea after they tried to find somewhere to marry while embarking on three years of travelling.

She said: "After a glass of wine or two, the idea grew and we made the decision to have a small ceremony in every country we visited with the local cultures and traditions in mind."

Mr Pelling added: "The weddings aren't traditional white weddings each time. For instance we had a topless wedding in Panama with a tribe and an Andean ceremony in Peru. They are not typical western weddings."

A lot of the ceremonies have taken place in the Americas, with the couple driving from Canada to Brazil for 34 weddings in 24 countries. Each ceremony adhered to the local cultures and traditions.

At the end of the trip, the couple have said they will pick their favourite place and then return for their formal wedding.
