The 37-year-old singer, who is pregnant with her first child, admitted: "I have no idea what I'm doing!"
According to Closer, Fergie was making an appearance on Good Morning America when she made the admission.
She added that both herself and actor husband Josh Duhamel were "thrilled" with the pregnancy, but said it was a shock for the couple.
She said they were planning to let parenthood come naturally. She said: "I'm just going to play it by ear and see how things go. Let the natural instincts kick in."
The singer said she was enjoying her pregnancy and was feeling good, but that she had suffered from slight morning sickness.
Fergie confirmed she was pregnant with her first child on 18th February by posting a message on Twitter. It said: "Josh & Me & BABY makes three!!! #mylovelybabybump"
The couple have been dating since 2004 and tied the knot in 2009.
