Ed Sheeran, has said he felt like a "stud" after he was reported to be dating American singer Taylor Swift.
The Brit Award-winning singer added he was delighted that his friends believed he was capable of dating the 23-year-old, the Daily Mail has reported.
However Sheeran was quick to dismiss the rumours that the couple had dated or even been involved romantically, insisting the pair were just friends.
Sheeran was recently seen leaving Swift's hotel room in the early hours of the morning, fuelling rumours that the couple were in a relationship, but The A Team singer has revealed the true story behind the photos.
In an interview with New Zealand broadcaster TVNZ, Sheeran said: "I did go to her hotel, I did stay there 'til four and I did leave in the same clothes. But I was playing her my new record. It was strictly that kind of thing. Literally, I went in there and we passed the guitar back and forth and played songs to each other."
The singer added: "The thing that impressed me with the media is that because they wrote about it, my mates believed it. And my mates are texting me being like 'is it true?' so I said it wasn't but the fact that people can believe it makes me feel like a bit of a stud, you know?"
Sheeran, who is friends with 1D's Harry Styles and had a brief relationship with Swift, said that he wouldn't date someone his friends had already dated.
He explained: "I've got to be honest because one of my best friends did date her. I'm not that kind of guy. But the fact that people believed it impressed me a little bit."
Sheeran is currently supporting Swift on her six-month Red tour.
