On Monday, the High Court in Belfast heard the woman had unwittingly signed the separation papers, alleging her former husband told her their home had to be transferred into his sole name as he was under financial investigation.
Neither the man nor woman can be identified, the case has been centred on the conflicting reports of how long they were a couple.
The man has claimed they were in a brief relationship, but got back together 18 years later. After getting married and living together for a short period they separated and divorced, he alleged.
However the woman contended the issue, claiming they had been in a cohabiting relationship for over 20 years. She added that the divorce only came to her attention when another woman her husband was seeing turned up at her home and told her.
It also emerged that the man from County Antrim had intended to leave his ex-wife with hardly any share of £600,000 worth of assets.
The judge who decided on the couple's settlement ruled on Monday that the value of the 60-acre marital home was to be split evenly between them.
The husband is to receive 70 per cent of any other assets acquired by him, with 30 per cent going to his ex-wife, including cash and property. He is also facing a legal bill of up to £250,000.
