Mass Moonies Wedding Held

Around 3,500 Moonies have been married in South Korea.

This was the first mass wedding ceremony organised by the Unification Church since its founder Sun Myung Moon's death.

A further 24,000 followers were married at the same time in other countries via video link, in a ceremony presided over by Hak Ja-han, the widow the founder who died in September.

Jin Davidson, a 21-year-old student from the United States, whose Australian father and Japanese mother were matched by Moon, has been teamed to Japanese bride-to-be, Kotona Shimizu, also 21.

He told Radio Australia: "I was pretty nervous then all of a sudden she popped up in front of me, and I said okay.

"We struggle a little to communicate right now, as I speak no Japanese at all, and she only speaks a little English, but we see it as an exciting challenge and proof of our faith."
