Northamptonshire County Council’s registration service conducts 2,300 ceremonies every year and this week (14th February) is launching a new website www.yourdaynorthants.com to help people prepare for their big days.
The website is not just for weddings, but also for anyone considering a civil partnership, renewal of vows, naming or citizenship ceremonies in Northamptonshire.
The website will be funded by advertising and includes on-line step by step guides for people to follow when booking and planning their celebration, including frequently asked questions.
It also includes a free advertising space for small, local businesses to help them get started.
County council cabinet member for customer and community services Councillor Heather Smith said: "The council’s website gets 23,000 hits a year from people looking for information about celebratory services so we are expecting the new website to be very popular.
"We are now hoping to attract lots of advertisers so that the website becomes the primary source of information for customers about ceremonies and suppliers in the county, as well as raising income for the council which can be spent on providing registration services.
"The website is now live, so please visit www.yourdaynorthants.com and have a look."
