The lucky in love contestant relied on the support of Joanne as he dropped 40 per cent of his body weight to be crowned the winner of the ITV show.
He said: “We always had a good relationship, but my weight was like a big black cloud hanging over us.
“I didn’t feel like I could ask her, but now that has all lifted away.
“I had planned to propose when we were on holiday in France earlier this year because I thought it would be romantic, but the moment never seemed right.
“Funnily enough, the right time came when we were just sitting together at home on the settee talking and I just asked her.
“She said yes and started crying, we are both really excited about it.”
Joanne said: “Even though we had talked about marriage, it still came as a shock when he asked me.
“We are so happy. Before, Kevin’s weight was always a huge worry wondering what his health would be like, but now things have totally changed. He is a different person, so full of energy and we can look forward to the future.”
Kevin went from 32st 2lb to 19st 4lb.
