Wedding Worries For Ulster Bank Bride-To-Be

A Bride-to-be has been left panicking after Ulster Bank 'lost' her money.

Sarah Copeland, 26, had to be handed over £6,000 to pay for her dress and cake after the bank wrongly told her she wasn’t a member and that her account was empty.

Sarah, from Ballygowan, Co Down, told the Irish Sun: “The woman apologised and said they have brought in staff who are not up to date on everything.

“She said I should not have been told that I had no account for a start.

“But they had been able to trace a photocopy of the receipt of me putting the £5,000 (€6,222) in last week.

“I had been panicking because there was no receipt given to me at the time because their computers were down. But they gave me the money in cash and that was it.”

She added: “But I also lodged £280 (€350) cash last week and I’ve no receipt for it and it’s not showing up.

“I’m going to be overdrawn because there won’t be enough in my account to cover my bills. They say they will take no charges but I can’t see how all of this is going to be sorted out.”

A spokeswoman for the bank refused to comment on individual cases.
