Canadian mutant superhero Northstar and his boyfriend Kyle tie the knot in issue number 51 of Astonishing X Men and to celebrate the milestone, competition-winners Scott Everheart and Jason Welker got married too.
The Ohio couple won a nationwide competition to find someone who fitted the theme.
And Welker said: "One of our first dates was him taking me to a comic book store, so that's why this also seemed kind of perfect, because that was right at the start of our relationship. So this is kind of a nice full circle, and now I'm a total comic dork."
Everheart said: "It's a bonus because we love comics, we're both geeks."
Such is the couple's dedication to the comic book world, they even celebrated with an Astonishing X-Men wedding cake.
Publisher Marvel Comics encouraged retailers to celebrate the event, and Mikal McCruden and his husband Chris Gardener renewed their vows today in another store.
Mr McCruden said: "It's that X-Men message—it has a lot of lessons of equality, you feel a lot of empathy for mutants, they live in a world where people hate and fear them just for who they are. We feel strongly enough to make a stand, say here we are."
The 40-year-old continued: "It's the comic book wedding I always wanted."
