"Finding love in mid-life has never been easier or more common," said Chad Stone, author of Confessions of a Middle-Aged Babe Magnet. "Because of online technology and a less restrictive social environment, today's single adults have more options and more opportunities to meet each other than ever before."
One of those technology-based options is online dating. According to statisticbrain.com, 17% of marriages in 2011 were the result of the couple meeting on an online website. The same survey says 20% of current committed relationships began online.
Chad Stone's personal experience fits neatly into those statistics. After his long marriage ended in divorce, he went on a quest to find "the last love of my life." His newly published book, Confessions of a Middle-Aged Babe Magnet, is both a humorous memoir and a dating advice book that recounts his experiences as a middle-aged single man in the 21st century. In addition to being very entertaining, the book provides practical dating advice for men and offers women a funny, uncensored look inside the mind of a single man, revealing his inner thoughts and why he behaves as he does. It is the story of one man's journey, but the book also speaks to an entire generation of adults who are navigating a brave new world of singlehood.
"As a single man, I took advantage of the new dating opportunities - including online dating and a 'speed dating' event," said Stone. "An estimated 40 million American adults have tried online dating in some form, so those of us who have used web-based technology to find love are in very good company."
Stone recounts with great detail his experiences on the popular dating site match.com. Although he had to learn the protocols and the tricks of this cyber dating venue, his efforts eventually bore romantic fruit. Confessions of a Middle-Aged Babe Magnet ends on a happy note after Stone has met the woman who he describes as "The One." The two were married last year.
"When I started out on my middle-aged dating adventure, I firmly believed that finding love was possible at any age - as long as you're willing to embrace it," said Stone. "I used a very tongue-in-cheek 'babe magnet' persona to give me confidence, and I had a lot to learn along the way, but I eventually proved that you can find your soulmate by combining high-tech tools with old-fashioned romance."
