The Wedding Sewn, based in Leicester, is the first company in Britain to create gowns and accessories suitable for brides with physical disabilities.
Run by husband and wife team William and Claire Presland, they believe in the mantra that a bride should not have to compromise on her wedding day, whether you are not a standard size, have a disability or don’t want to buy a standard off-the-shelf wedding dress.
William, 35, was the head of a Market Harborough business advisory firm and Claire, 33, is the director which works in the Deaf community.
William told www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk: "We were talking about our own wedding and the customer service we got on the day and said, 'what must it be like when you are disabled?'
"We have done a lot of research and we couldn't find anyone doing this kind of service.
"Wedding dresses are always designed to look their best when standing upright, with little or no consideration for those who have a physical disability."
The designs have caught the attention of Paralympian Natasha Davies who has modeled some of the gowns for brides in wheelchairs.
He told the media outlet: "In the future, we would love to be able to provide a beautiful wedding car with a ramp.
"At the moment, you have to be lifted out of your car, use your own car or a taxi.
"Eventually, we would like to do everything, including a database of venues that have proper disabled access."
