Alison Smith, who married four times before her 24th birthday, now plans to tie the knot with her latest lover.
According to the paper her first husband ran off with her mum after just 10 days, her second, when she was eight months pregnant with her first child, was a last-minute stand-in for a fiance who jilted her and the third was a bigamist. Husband number four Alex Shepherd dumped her when he caught her cheating and now she plans to marry new beau Matthew Hume.
Her ex, from Arbroath, who has a three-year-old child with Alison, commented to the publication: "I’m gutted, I thought Alison was the one and I wouldn’t have married her otherwise. All I wanted to do was settle down with her and have kids, but now I just want the divorce sorted as soon as possible so I can move on with my life again.
"I was aware of her previous husbands – I knew most of them – but thought she’d changed. Obviously she hasn’t. I asked my solicitor to start divorce proceedings a couple of months ago because it doesn’t feel right to look for another girlfriend until I’m divorced from Alison. I’ve been really loyal to her since we got married.
"Apparently they’ve said they want to get married and I’m not going to try to stop them. I just want to put it all behind me. I’ve seen them out together and it feels pretty strange but there’s nothing you can do."
New squeeze Matthew told the Record: "She’s finished with Alex and is with me now and that’s all there is to say. She just wants to put all that stuff behind her and be left in peace by everyone."
