The footage, originally posted on porn website Nudevista, shows Brand, 36, taking off his wedding ring off as he prepares for what he calls "a week of revolution" during his US university college stand-up tour.
In the clip the comedian said: "I am going to meet people from sororities and fraternities.
"I don't know what a sorority is except for what I have seen on Nudevista - that they are sort of sex clubs for women.
"A week of revolution and, more importantly, I am going to learn first-hand about sororities."
Taking off his wedding ring, Russell added: "I'm just going to place this somewhere very, very safe for the next week."
In December Brand confirmed he had filed for divorce from the 27-year-old singer. The couple were married for just 14 months.
