Rachelle Atkinson, from Albuquereque, New Mexico, had a habit of keeping her wedding ring on her night stand until she decided to wear it and found it was gone, according to KOB.com.
After searching the house for the $4,500 band she began to suspect her dog Caroline was guilty of the theft.
She searched the 10-month old basset hounds dropping for 10 days to no avail before bringing the dog to the vets for an X-ray.
"So we took her to the vet and there it was lying in the bottom of her stomach and it was just too heavy to pass so we had to take her in for surgery," Rachel's husband Scott Atkinson told KOB.
The ring was retrieved and now Rachel keeps it in a safe place.
