The rugby star said "I do" to former Black Sticks striker Honor Dillon on Friday at a private ceremony at the luxury Lake Timara Lodge near Blenheim, NZ.
Dan's Dad, Neville Carter, Told 3 News it's a personal choice: "I don’t wear mine, mainly because I’m in the building industry and it would get caught up and get quite dangerous.
"[It] depends, I think, on the occupation. I think it'd be fair to say he'd be taking his ring on and off, on and off every day, with all the training that he does."
Woman's Day magazine signed an exclusive story and photo deal with the couple worth an estimated $50,000.
Fellow All Black Ali Williams with his partner Casey Green and former All Black Leon Macdonald and his wife Hayley were among the A-list guests.
Dan popped the question in October 2010.
