First 'Occupy Movement' Wedding Takes Place

Occupy Wall Street movements have popped up across the world with anti-communist movements now in London and even Belfast - but the focus in one ‘occupy’ camp in America was temporarily taken off the economy for an onsite wedding.

Alicia Nauss, 24, met Adam Hill, 27, 32 days ago, when they both showed up to staff the information tent on the first day of Occupy Philadelphia Oct. 6. They’ve been together ever since.

The couple decided to tie the knot two weeks ago, when Hill brought the idea up in casual conversation, Nauss said.

The engagement was a shock to the couple’s families but they went ahead with the ceremony. Around 150 people attended and Nauss walked trough the Occupy encampment in a donated wedding dress to greet her groom.

Afterward, there was cake; enough to feed more than 60 people, thanks to the efforts of two chefs who donate their time to cook in the movement’s food committee.

Meanwhile the duo did not request wedding gifts but instead asked anyone who wished to get them something to donate food and warm clothing to those taking part in the Occupy movement.

Now Nauss and Hill plan to tour Occupy Wall Street locations in other cities on their honeymoon.
