A recent survey by Weddings Abroad & Honeymoons indicates that islands in the Indian Ocean are favourites for UK couples looking to honeymoon abroad.
Of the 1600 brides and grooms who participated in the survey, 16% indicated they were exploring honeymooning in The Maldives. A further 6% were looking at Mauritius and 4% looking at the Seychelles.
While these destinations are some distance from the UK, "they are popular with UK couples as they are viewed as the perfect backdrop to celebrate love in an intimate, secluded, and most importantly, beautiful setting," said Ursula Barzey, Marketing Director, Weddings Abroad & Honeymoons. "Also, celebrity couples like the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge who recently had their honeymoon in the Seychelles has helped to make these picture postcard islands quite popular."
The Top 10 Honeymoon Destinations: Maldives (16%), United States (14%), St Lucia (6%), Italy (6%), Thailand (6%), Mauritius (6%), Seychelles (4%), Mexico (4%), Australia (3%), South Africa (3%), and Barbados (3%).
