Wedding Dress Clean-up Mastered
Wedding dresses hold precious memories therefore it is essential to preserve them. You have made your vows, cut the cake, listened to speeches and had your first dance all wearing an exquisite gown, which will be cherished forever.
As the most treasured and probably the most expensive dress you will ever wear experts in wedding dress preservation Perry de montaignac recommend that you have your wedding dress professionally cleaned after your big day and before storing it away.
"It is important to clean your wedding dress after cleaning because it will remove anything in/on the dress that could cause damage/discolouration further down the line,” says company spokesman Jeff. "This includes not just the visible marks (make-up, mud on hem, drinks spillage) but also the invisible stains such as perspiration which is acidic and can cause the fabric to rot."
The firm use numerous cleaning processes depending on the fabric and the marks on it. When dresses arrive they are thoroughly inspected before the best cleaning method is selected.
The most common stains on wedding dresses are fake-tan/make-up and mud on hems. Confetti stains are very difficult to remove according to the wedding dress cleaning specialist.
"Many brides manage to get blood on their dresses during alterations, and there was one bride who had been practising her dance with her husband to be, and he stood on her dress leaving a big footprint," Jeff adds. "Needless to say he was very happy that we could resolve the problem."
If the dress looks a bit creased then hang it in a bathroom when the shower/bath is on, the expert advises. "Also if you spill anything on it - don't panic. If it's something water based use a little water, but try not to let it ruin your day."
Perry de montaignac started the business after realising that a lot of dry-cleaners did not have the expertise to clean wedding dresses and therefore a specialist was needed.
TV presenter Kirsty Gallacher thanked the company for a "fantastic job" cleaning her wedding dress.
"From start to finish, I have been thoroughly impressed with your service. The repairs have made the dress look as good as new and all the tough stains have been removed from around the hem. It has also been boxed up beautifully so I can keep it as a wonderful memory of an amazing day," she wrote on the firm’s website.
Professional dancer Camilla Sacre-Dallerup also thanked the firm for restoring her wedding dress and shoes. Her testimonial on the website states: "Thank you so much to Perry de Montaignac for their hassle free and extremely professional service...my stunning wedding dress and shoes are now as good as new thanks to you.
"After our beach wedding I must admit I was wondering if it was possible to restore the dress and shoes with all the sand having gone deep into the delicate fabric, but you did a marvellous job."
