David Van Scoy, the senior partner, is a time served jeweller and has been working in all aspects of the trade for nearly 40 years. In 2007 he was joined by his business partner Rebbecca Woodhall, who brings with her 12 years of luxury retail jewellery experience.

Rhodium Plating
Many contemporary jewellery items, especially those manufactured from white gold, platinum and nowadays silver, are given a rhodium plating to enhance shine and durability.

Rhodium plating is most often used on white gold, as white gold is not a natural metal.

Gold is a naturally yellow colour, modern day white gold is actually an alloy of gold mixed with a white metal, usually nickel, silver or palladium which are a naturally grey colour. This is where rhodium plating is used for that bright white look. It is important to be aware that rhodium plating a piece of jewellery does not last forever. The plating on something that takes alot of wear – for example a wedding or engagement ring can wear away in as little as two years, while something like a diamond pendant can last a lot longer as it is not prone to as much use.
