Now, speaking to People, the 46-year-old said of the situation: "Family, to me, means being able to be yourself, sit back on the couch and relax, and watch a movie with the people that know you better than anyone else in the world."
She also revealed that her husband and her son, Walker, already have a close relationship.
She is quoted as saying: "They're very close. They're probably watching a film, or they run around playing dodgeball with a sock; they make a ball out of socks and they hit each other."
Walker is Menzel's son from her previous marriage to actor Taye Diggs.
